According to local media, SAC entered Kone Gyi village, Khin-U township, on 5 July 2023, stayed for two nights, burned a reported 25 buildings and took 10 civilians as hostages when they left on 7 July.

Two buildings were also reported burnt and one person was allegedly beheaded at nearby Lel Thit Taw village during the same period. Myanmar Witness found FIRMS data indicating fires in Kone Gyi on 6 July.
