Khit Thit Media reported that on 21 August, more than 30 houses were set alight in the village of Htan Bone Taw in the early morning.

Further buildings were reportedly looted for food and valuables.

It is alleged that the attack was conducted by a combined unit of troops from the Myanmar Military and Pyu Saw Htee militia who were based nearby in Kan Ni village.
